Our Story

The tiny family lab behind every print

Hi, we’re the family behind Little Layer Lab—a small 3D print shop that grew out of weekend tinkering, lots of curiosity, and kids who love to say, “What if we printed this next?” What started as a fun hobby soon turned into something bigger: a way to share the joy of 3D-printed creations with other families, while spending time together doing something we all enjoy.

How Little Layer Lab began

It all began with a single printer, a roll of filament, and a simple question: “Can we make our own toys?” We fell down the 3D-printing rabbit hole fast—testing settings, learning from failed prints, and celebrating when a tricky model finally came out just right.

Friends and family started asking for pieces of their own. We realized there were so many beautiful models created by talented designers that deserved to live off the screen and in real homes. So we turned our little hobby into Little Layer Lab: a small, family-run shop focused on quality, playfulness, and care.

Meet the lab crew

The Parents – Print wranglers & quality control

We handle the machines, materials, and settings to make sure every piece prints cleanly. We’re the ones listening for late-night printer noises and double-checking each order before it ships.

The Kids – Chief Fun Officers

The kids help pick colors, suggest new models to try, and give honest feedback: “This dragon is awesome!” or “This one needs stronger wings.” If a print can survive our playtesters, we know it’s ready for your home.

The Creators – Our model makers

We don't design the 3D models ourselves. Instead, we carefully choose designs from independent 3D artists and purchase the proper licenses to bring their work into the physical world. That way, you're supporting both our small family shop and the creators behind the designs.

From digital design to your doorstep

Every print goes through a little journey before it reaches you:

  1. Model & material. We choose models that print well and hold up to real-world use. Then we pair them with the right materials and colors for strength and style.
  2. Printing & tuning. We fine-tune layer height, temperature, and speed so details are crisp and surfaces are as smooth as possible.
  3. Clean-up & inspection. Once a print is done, we carefully remove supports, trim away any rough spots, and check for flaws. If it isn't something we'd happily keep ourselves, it doesn't go in a box.
  4. Packing with care. Finally, we pack your item securely so it arrives safe and ready to be played with, displayed, or gifted.
